From flower baskets at 40,000 won to rice wreaths: what to look for in an opening gift at each price point
From flower baskets at 40,000 won to rice wreaths: what to look for in an opening gift at each price point
The gift that arrives on opening day can become a shop's first impression. Here, step by step, are the choices at each price point, along with flower types, sizes, ribbon wording and when to order.
Decide on your budget first and the choices narrow down quickly. Our prices at Arrive in Bloom (이름꽃) include delivery, so there are no extra costs on top of the price you see.
In the 40,000-won range, there are flower baskets and bouquets (from around 45,000 won) and a ZZ plant, known in Korea as geumjeonsu (47,000 won). From the 50,000-won range, a 3-tier celebration wreath starts at 59,000 won, and rice wreaths cost 89,000 won for 10kg, 119,000 won for 20kg and 149,000 won for 30kg.
| Price range | Product | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 40,000-won range | Flower baskets and bouquets, ZZ plant | Close friends, small shops |
| 50,000-won range | 3-tier celebration wreath (from 59,000 won) | Business partners, openings with an event |
| 80,000 won and above | Rice wreaths, 10kg to 30kg | Offices and restaurants that can share the rice |
A rice wreath is a wreath decorated with flowers and ribbons, with a sack of rice placed beneath it. Its practical appeal is that, after the opening, the rice can be shared with staff and neighbours.
Your relationship with the recipient is another guide. A eye-catching wreath suits a business partner, while a plant that can be kept for a long time is a thoughtful, easy gift for someone close.

The mood changes with the plant. An Oriental orchid looks neat and tidy, so it suits a small office or café, while a moth orchid brings an elegant air to a formal occasion.
The ZZ plant is often given as an opening gift because it is said to bring wealth, and we offer it at 47,000 won. Foliage plants last well, which makes them a good match for a large office or shop. For the prices of Oriental and moth orchids, please check the product pages.
As a rule, match the size to the space. In a small shop a compact pot won't get in the way of people moving around, while in a spacious lobby or meeting room a medium or large pot makes a strong visual focal point. If the place already has plenty of plants, you could choose a different form, such as a wreath or a rice wreath.
If the recipient's line of work leaves little time for plant care, a variety that needs watering only rarely is less of a burden. Adding a line on the card about how to look after it makes it much easier for them to keep it thriving.
A wreath has two ribbons hanging vertically down either side. Facing the wreath, the right-hand ribbon carries the occasion message and the left-hand ribbon carries the sender's name. For an opening, the occasion message is 祝 開業 ("congratulations on the opening").
For the sender, a company name, job title and name, kept brief, are easy to read. Something like "Ganada Trading, CEO Hong Gil-dong" lets the recipient see at once who sent it.
We write the ribbon and card messages by hand at no charge. If you give us the exact wording when you order, typos are less likely. You can also use the flower card tool on our site to polish a short congratulatory message beforehand.
It is worth checking once more before ordering whether the recipient's business name or title has changed. A wrong business name can easily take the shine off the gift.
We deliver flowers nationwide, and orders placed before 5 p.m. can be delivered the same day. This can vary by region and product, though, so please check when you order.
Since an opening event has a fixed start time, the safe approach is to order by the day before, and to give us the exact delivery address, a phone number we can reach and the time you would like it to arrive. Noting the floor where the plant will go, or where the entrance is, in your requests helps avoid confusion during delivery.
Once delivery is complete, we send you a photo of the actual gift, so the sender can check its condition and the ribbon wording. If you are ordering from overseas, you can also pay with PayPal in US dollars.
You can order opening gifts from us at prices that include delivery. If you are the one opening a business, do also make use of the opening announcement card we provide free of charge.
