You've decided to send flowers for 명절 (Korea's major holidays: Seollal, the Lunar New Year, and Chuseok, the autumn harvest festival), but it isn't clear how many days before the holiday break you need to order. It works better to set the arrival date first and count back from there than to start with the order date.
Flower delivery doesn't go through a logistics hub the way parcels do. An atelier near the recipient makes the arrangement and a driver brings it to the door, so the holiday cutoffs set by courier companies don't apply.
What matters is flower supply. Ateliers buy their flowers at flower markets, and those markets often close over the holidays. That means arrangements are made with flowers bought just before the break.
Right before the holiday, a lot of orders ask for the same arrival day. If a particular flower or color runs out, it may be swapped for a different flower with a similar look.
On the holiday itself and during the break, delivery may be limited depending on the region or the atelier. Don't count on the usual 5 p.m. same-day cutoff and order on the afternoon before the holiday. It's safer to order earlier.
The question is whether the recipient will be there that day. If the flowers reach an empty office or a home with nobody in, they may sit there for the whole holiday.

For business partners, avoid the last working day before the break. People often leave early or take the day off, and the office is too busy to find a spot for the flowers.
For parents or a former teacher, first find out where they'll be over the holiday. The driver calls when they arrive, so the recipient's contact number has to be a Korean number.

What usually holds up an order is the message, not the flowers. Write a message of two lines or less for each recipient ahead of time, and your order won't get delayed as the holiday gets closer.
For business partners, include your company name and your job title. For parents, use the name you call them and add a short greeting. For a former teacher, add one line with a detail like your graduation year or class so they can tell right away who sent it.
