Sending a Wedding Wreath for the First Time

Check venue rules, arrival time and ribbon wording, in that order
You get the wedding invitation, decide to send a 화환 (standing flower wreath), and then stall at the order form. You aren't sure what goes on the ribbon or what time it should arrive. You may not even know whether the venue allows wreaths.
Taken in order, there are only three things to check: whether the venue accepts wreaths, the arrival time, and the ribbon text. If you do them in reverse order, you may have to place the order again.

Not every wedding venue accepts wreaths. Hotels and halls with little space may ban them outright or allow them only in a designated spot.
If you send one without knowing the rules, it may be turned away at the entrance, or the bride and groom may get a call about it on the wedding day. A gesture meant to congratulate them becomes one more thing for them to deal with.
Checking is simple. First look at the mobile wedding invitation for a line such as 'We respectfully decline flower wreaths.' If there isn't one, call the venue's main number and ask whether wreaths are allowed and where they are placed.
If a wreath isn't an option, send something else. You can send a flower basket or potted plant to the couple's new home after the wedding, or have a bouquet delivered on the day they return from their honeymoon. They still receive your congratulations even if nothing is at the venue.
The usual rule is for the wreath to arrive two to three hours before the ceremony starts. If it is in place before guests come in, venue staff have time to set it up and the couple can see it before they walk down the aisle.
Many venues hold several weddings in the same hall on the same day. So your wreath doesn't get mixed up with an earlier ceremony, include the ceremony start time and the hall name in your order.
Order timing matters too. Arrive in Bloom delivers orders received by 5 p.m. on the same day. Orders placed after that are delivered the next day, from 10 a.m. onward. For a morning or midday ceremony, order before 5 p.m. the day before to be safe.
The recipient's contact number must be a Korean phone number. The driver calls on arrival, and the bride and groom are unlikely to pick up on the day, so give the number of one of the couple's parents or a close friend instead.
A wreath has two ribbons. Usually the right ribbon carries the congratulatory message and the left ribbon carries the sender's name. The shorter the message, the easier it is to read from a distance and the more clearly it shows up in photos.
Write the sender line so the relationship is clear. An individual uses just their name. A group writes its affiliation followed by 일동 (roughly 'all of us at'). When the couple look at the photos later, they should be able to tell right away who sent each wreath.
| Relationship to the couple | Right ribbon (message) | Left ribbon (sender) |
|---|---|---|
| Friend or acquaintance | 축 결혼 (Congratulations on your wedding) | 홍길동 (your name, e.g. Hong Gil-dong) |
| Company or business partner | 축 결혼 (Congratulations on your wedding) | ○○주식회사 대표이사 홍길동 (Hong Gil-dong, CEO, ○○ Co., Ltd.) |
| School classmates or club | 결혼을 축하합니다 (Congratulations on your marriage) | ○○대학교 동기 일동 (All your classmates at ○○ University) |
| Coworkers | 두 분의 앞날을 축하합니다 (Wishing you both a happy future together) | ○○팀 일동 (All of us on the ○○ team) |
Put the groom's or bride's side in the delivery request field. That matters more than putting it on the ribbon. Venues often place wreaths in separate groups for each family, so writing '신랑 ○○○ 측' (groom ○○○'s side) keeps yours from ending up on the wrong side.
Arrive in Bloom hand-letters the ribbon text for you. Once the delivery is done, we send you an actual photo with no staging or retouching. Use it to confirm that the wreath is in the right place and the name is correct.
Once you have checked with the venue, see the ordering details on Arrive in Bloom's congratulatory wreath page.
