Why Arriving the Day Before Is Best for an Opening Gift
Take the rush out of the big day and let your good wishes arrive in full
Take the rush out of the big day and let your good wishes arrive in full
The morning of an opening is the busiest time for the shop owner and staff. They are finishing the displays, checking the food and supplies, and getting ready to welcome guests, so when a wreath turns up there is little time to decide where it should go. If it arrives the day before, the spot can be chosen calmly, and on the morning itself everyone can focus on what is happening inside the shop.
Wreaths are often placed on either side of the shop entrance or on the pavement in front of the building. If yours is already there, there is time to check that the ribbon wording and the sender's name are correct, and room to put right anything that is not. Seeing it for the first time on opening day leaves very little time to change it.
When flowers are already in place by the time the first guests arrive, the shop gives the impression of being ready. The owner can also look at them before opening the doors and gather their thoughts. That said, building rules and whether a pavement display is allowed differ from place to place, so we suggest checking with the recipient before you send.

Same-day delivery applies to orders placed before 5 p.m., and this may vary by region and product. If the opening is in the morning or around lunchtime, it is hard to time the arrival to land before the event begins. The more the start time matters, the safer it is to leave a day in hand.
Delivery can be affected by traffic, the weather and building entry procedures. If the wreath arrives during the event, it has to be set up while guests are gathered, which can be awkward for both the recipient and the sender. Letting the recipient know the arrival time in advance means they can arrange for someone to receive it.
On the other hand, we would not recommend sending it too early either, two or three days ahead. The shop may still be under construction or being tidied, and fresh flowers change as time passes. The table below sets out the features of each arrival time.
| Arrival time | Advantages | Things to note |
|---|---|---|
| Two or three days before | Received early, so you can check it | The shop may still be being tidied, and fresh flowers may change in condition |
| The day before the opening | Time to check the position and ribbon wording, and the flowers are fresh for the opening | You need to confirm when the recipient can receive it |
| Opening day | You can order later | A delay could mean missing the start of the event, and it falls in a busy time |
Once the opening date is set, first confirm the exact address and the times when someone can receive the delivery. For arrival the day before, ordering before 5 p.m. on that day is the guideline, but it may vary by region, so ordering a day or two earlier gives you peace of mind.
It helps to have the following information ready when you order.
A wreath has two ribbons hanging vertically down either side. Facing the wreath, the right-hand ribbon carries the congratulatory phrase, such as 祝 開業 (Congratulations on the opening), and the left-hand ribbon carries the sender. At Arrive in Bloom (이름꽃), we write the ribbon and card messages by hand at no charge, and after delivery we send a photo of the real wreath so you can see how it was set up.
Congratulatory wreaths start from 59,000 won for the three-tier style, and rice wreaths are 89,000 won for 10kg, 119,000 won for 20kg and 149,000 won for 30kg. A rice wreath is a flower-and-ribbon wreath with a sack of rice placed beneath it. It is well suited to standing at the entrance and announcing the opening.
Flower baskets and bouquets start at around 45,000 won, and a money plant (geumjeonsu) in a pot is 47,000 won. If the shop is too narrow for a wreath at the entrance, a flower basket or potted plant that can sit on the counter or indoors is a good fit.
If the owner uses our free opening-announcement tool to set out the date and place and shares it with guests, anyone who wants to send a gift will know the date and location exactly. Asking the recipient for their announcement is another option.
We deliver flowers across the country, and the prices given include delivery. Once your opening date is set, try ordering for arrival the day before.
Yes. Arriving the day before is actually better for checking the position and ribbon wording. However, the shop may be being tidied or nobody may be there to receive it, so please tell the recipient the arrival time in advance.
