Yellow, and what it is for
In Korea a golden-yellow orchid is the one you send when you want to wish someone luck and prosperity — a new shop, a new title, a new venture. This one carries that colour honestly: clear gold petals, each with a small pink and white throat at the centre.
It is planted low, with a soft green foliage plant tucked in around the stems so the leaves spill over the rim. In sunlight the flowers read almost like ripples of gold, which is what customers keep writing to us about.
Keeping it in flower
Somewhere bright and airy, out of direct sun, is all it needs. Water roughly every ten to fourteen days once the surface has dried right out, pouring at the roots — keep water off the petals, as drops on them can leave brown marks.
Phalaenopsis is a tropical plant and does not like cold. Through winter keep the room at 15°C or above and move it away from a window where cold air comes in directly.
