A clear, confident colour
Deep pink petals edged in bright white, carried on spikes that arch out over a matte black square pot. Most orchids sent as congratulations are pale; this one is not, and that is the point.
Set it on a chief executive's desk, a reception counter or a living room table and the room reorganises itself around it. Small variegated foliage is planted at the base to finish the piece.
The details we chose
Cherry pink with a white glow. Strong pink through the petal, lifting to white at the edge, so the colour reads clearly even at a distance.
A modern black square pot. Ribbed vertically down the lower half and finished with a matching saucer - closer to an interior object than a plant pot.
Strong flowering. Well kept, the flowers hold for one to two months or more without fading.
How to keep it looking like this
Water about once every 10 to 14 days, when the topsoil has dried, pouring at the roots rather than over the flowers.
Keep it somewhere bright and well ventilated indoors. Regular water and good light are the whole of it.
