Sculpture you can water

A thick, firm trunk and long leaves fanning out in every direction make Draco read less like a houseplant and more like a piece of sculpture. Put it in a living room, a cafe or an office and it becomes the centre of the room the moment it lands.

It is the kind of gift that says something about the room it is going into — which is why it is so often sent for a shop opening or a new office.

Three reasons people choose it

An exotic, architectural shape. The bare trunk and the spray of leaves above it finish a space the way an object does.

It cleans the air. The grower notes that Draco absorbs airborne pollutants well and releases negative ions, keeping indoor air fresher.

It forgives you. The trunk stores water, so the plant is very tolerant of dry spells — easy even for a first-time plant owner with a busy week.

Care, in one paragraph

Watering once every three to four weeks is enough. Wait until the soil is dry right through, then water thoroughly until it runs from the bottom of the pot. Keep it in a bright spot out of direct sun — a sunny or lightly shaded window with good air movement suits it best.

If leaf tips dry out or brown, that is simply dry indoor air. Mist around the leaves to raise the humidity, and trim the dried tips at an angle with clean scissors, following the shape of the leaf. In winter keep it indoors above 13°C and away from cold walls and window glass.
