In Korea it is called nokbosu, the 'green treasure tree' (Radermachera), and is given to wish good fortune on a new business or a new home.

Water generously when the topsoil feels dry, until the roots are thoroughly wet. Give it a bright living room or a window with soft light — it adapts well to indoor shade too. Open a window once a day to let the air move and it grows noticeably better.
In dry indoor air, mist the leaves now and then or wipe them with a damp cloth. The natural emerald gloss comes right back.
